Karla Smith Named AARC’s Sleep Medicine Practitioner of the Year

Karla Smith BS, RRT, RPSGT, supervisor of St. Alexius’ Sleep Center, is the recipient of the 2012 American Association for Respiratory Care’s prestigious Specialty Practitioner of the Year award for Sleep Medicine. Karla graduated from University of Mary with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy. She is a registered respiratory therapist and a registered polysomnographic technologist.  Karla began her career at St. Alexius as a respiratory therapy student.

This award honors outstanding achievements in the specialty practice area of Sleep Respiratory Care. The award will be presented at the annual awards ceremony during the AARC 58th International Respiratory Convention & Exhibition Annual Meeting November 10-13, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
