Cancer Center of Excellence
St. Alexius Medical Center has teamed up with the Bismarck Cancer Center and Mid Dakota Cancer Treatment & Research Center to provide the most comprehensive cancer treatment in the region.
The Bismarck Cancer Center is a collaborative, non-profit community service offered by St. Alexius Medical Center and Medcenter One Health Systems and is a member of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. The Bismarck Cancer Center is governed by a board of directors that consists of senior administrative staff from St Alexius and Medcenter One.
Patient and family-centered care, along with teamwork, help us care for the person as a whole. A comprehensive team is made up of oncology doctors, a nutrition doctor, a nutritionist, chemotherapy nurses, radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, spiritual providers, support staff, support groups, your regular doctor and of course you and your loved ones. The oncology unit at St. Alexius Medical Center has 14 beds and six certified oncology nurses that provide state-of-the art compassionate care.

The St. Alexius Human Performance Center is one of the area's premiere therapeutic and rehabilitation facilities. It offers physical and occupational therapy for multiple symptoms related to the occurrence of cancer. A common issue that occurs with various forms of cancer and radiation therapy is lymphedema. The St. Alexius Human Performance Center has trained specialists in the rehabilitative care of lymphedema. Ask the care providers of the Cancer COE if referral to the Human Performance Center is appropriate for you.
