Michael Booth, MD, PhD
Dr. Mike Booth joined the Heart & Lung Clinic in 1989. He specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, with special interests in pediatric thoracic surgery, esophageal surgery, and cardiac pacing. A native of Fulton, New York, Dr. Booth attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees. He served his general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. At Minnesota Dr. Booth performed graduate work in cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology with the late Irwin J. Fox, for which he received his Doctor of Philosophy degree and an NIH National Research Service Award. He then served his residency in thoracic surgery at the Albany Medical Center, where he also served as an Instructor in Surgery. Dr. Booth is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He also holds a NASPE Certificate in Cardiac Pacing and Cardioversion Defibrillation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Association for Surgical Education, and the North Dakota Medical Association. Dr. Booth also serves as a Clinical Professor of Surgery for the University of North Dakota, and is the author of some 20 articles in cardiovascular physiology and thoracic surgery. Dr. Booth and his wife, Sue, reside with their family in rural Bismarck.
