DIRECTOR: HOSPITALIST FELLOWSHIP

St. Alexius Medical Center is seeking an Internist and/or Family Physician with interest, expertise, and experience in Hospitalist Medicine to provide Directorship to the newly created Hospitalist Medicine Fellowship program.

The Director will divide his/her time between clinical, administrative and teaching responsibilities. This is a Monday-Friday, 8-hour per day position with no nights or weekends required, but optional.

Administrative/Academic Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the fellows in each of the ACGME competency areas.
  • Implement content, structure, and objectives of the curriculum.
  • Oversee fellow scheduling and assignments.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, contracts, salaries, and benefits.
  • Orchestrate recruitment process, including writing brochure and website, coordinating interview day and ranking candidates.
  • Selection of program faculty as appropriate. Evaluate program faculty and approve the continued participation of program faculty based on evaluation.
  • Prepare and submit all information required and requested by UND including but not limited to the program information forms and annual program fellowship updates, and ensure that the information submitted is accurate and complete.

Clinical Responsibilities:
Includes those responsibilities typical of a Hospitalist role with inpatient primary care. Intensivists cover ICU, Code Blue and Rapid Responses 24/7.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • MD/DO
  • License (or eligible to obtain license) to practice in the State of North Dakota is required.
  • Medical Degree licensure with certification (or eligiblity) in Internal Medicine by the American Board Medicine or in Family Medicine by American Board of Family Medicine is required.
  • Adequate experience of participation in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency, Family Medicine Residency, or Hospitalist Medicine Fellowship Program.
  • Prior graduate medical education administrative experience preferred, but not necessary.
