Mark Monasky, MD, JD, FACS, FCLM, neurosurgeon, returns to St. Alexius Medical Center and Bismarck from Grand Forks, ND. Dr. Monasky earned a B.A. in Chemistry and Mathematics from State University at Potsdam in Potsdam, N.Y and a Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed a General Surgery Internship and was a resident in General Surgery and Neurology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Dr. Monasky completed additional residency training in Basic Research, Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic and completed neurosurgery training at the University of Maryland and Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore.

 

In addition, Dr. Monasky completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s Medical Center & Humana Hospital in Dallas, TX. Recently, Dr. Monasky earned his Doctorate in Jurisprudence at the University of North Dakota Law School and is licensed to practice law in the state of North Dakota. Dr. Monasky is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.

 

He holds membership in a large number of professional societies including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North Dakota Medical Association, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the American Medical Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, the North Dakota Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Dr. Monasky also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences. St. Alexius is pleased to welcome back a Neurosurgeon of Dr. Monasky’s caliber to the Bismarck community. Neurosurgery is the surgical specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders that affect the spinal column, spinal cord, brain, nervous system and peripheral nerves.
