Dr. Russo joined the Bismarck Cancer Center in June of 2014. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology. As a Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Russo specializes in the treatment of patients with cancer. Dr. Russo earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport and completed his radiation oncology residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Russo previously practiced at E+OncoLogics in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Dr. Russo is an active member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology. He has a faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota. Dr. Russo accepts all cases including breast, prostate, lung, gynecologic (female cancers), pediatric, lung, head/neck (mouth, tongue, throat, voice box), stomach, colorectal, pancreatic, esophageal, brain, spinal cord, bladder, bone, sarcoma, lymphoma and mestastic disease. Dr. Russo has published and presented independent research in several areas including; breast, gynecologic, lung, esophageal, brain and head/neck and is the Director of Clinical Research at the Bismarck Cancer Center.
Dr. Russo was inspired to pursue a career in radiation oncology after seeing the profound and long-standing relationships that form between the patient and their care team. The typical several week course of therapy and life-time follow up of cancer patients puts this relationship at the core of an effective and meaningful care plan.
