St. Alexius Named 100 Greatest Hospitals in the Nation

St. Alexius Medical Center was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2012 list of 100 Great Hospitals to Know.  This is the second consecutive year St. Alexius has been recognized as one of the nation’s greatest hospitals and is the only hospital in North Dakota to be selected.  This year’s list features the country’s hospitals that have demonstrated greatness through clinical accolades, innovations in care delivery, recent capital developments and the offering of new services, specialty programs and technology.

“St. Alexius is honored to be chosen for Becker’s Hospital Review’s greatest hospitals two years in a row,” says Gary P. Miller, St. Alexius President and CEO.  “It is honor to be listed among some of the finest hospitals in our nation, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.”

Hospitals cannot pay for inclusion in any Becker’s Hospital Review list which includes a variety of organizations that serve as anchors of wellness in their local communities, from well-known academic medical centers to smaller community hospitals that have demonstrated excellence.  “This is proof that you do not have to be a large, suburban hospital or medical center to do great things.  St. Alexius Medical Center is once again being recognized for accomplishing what some of our nation’s largest hospitals are doing, and we’re very proud to continue offering excellent healthcare in an environment that promotes our mission to ‘Let all be received as Christ.’”

Becker’s Hospital Review rated each hospital by how much they’ve contributed to the history of American healthcare, made noteworthy accomplishments in 2011 and how they continue to make strides this year.  Becker’s Hospital Review’s editorial team accepted nominations, conducted research and considered other recognized industry sources to develop this list.  Sources include U.S. News & World Report, Thomas Reuters 100 Top Hospitals, HealthGrades, Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipients.
