CDC recommends flu shot over flu mist this year

Flu season is almost here, which means it’s time to get vaccinated. However this year if you’re afraid of needles that might not be good. It’s time to break the news to your kids that they will have to get a needle instead of a spray.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has released its guidelines for the year, and they recommend people do not get flu mist as it has been found to be ineffective. Also in the guidelines it’s encouraged that anyone six months and older should get the shot.

“The flu is a contagious disease that can cause really severe complications. It can result in significant time away from school and work, hospitalization – even death. So it can minimize incidence of those complications if we get that annual vaccine,” says LeNeika Roehrich, CHI St. Alexius Health. Influenza shots are available now and if you would like to be vaccinated you should contact your local health provider.CDC recommends flu shot over flu mist this year.
