Transvaginal Exam Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time. PREP: None PURPOSE: Performed for pelvic pain. WHAT TO EXPECT: (Transvaginal) Patient will be scanned lying down on a gynecological cart in a pelvic exam position (feet in stirrups). A transducer will be inserted (by patient or technologist) into the vagina to image female organs (uterus, ovaries). TIME FRAME: 15 – 30 minutes POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: A Transvaginal exam will not be performed if the patient has a history of a recent vaginal surgery. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, INFORM THE TECHNOLOGIST BEFORE THE EXAM. |
