Sleep Center - Neuroscience
|
Restful sleep is very important to a person's health. Sleep is a time for the mind and body to renew and restore. It is estimated that two out of every five Americans have a serious sleep disorder. The Sleep Center at St. Alexius Medical Center helps individuals with sleep disorders such as excessive daytime sleepiness, falling asleep at inappropriate times and snoring, achieve more normal sleep patterns.
On February 1, 2006, the St. Alexius Sleep Center became the first Sleep Center in the region to be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. As an AASM accredited Sleep Center, the St. Alexius Sleep Center has demonstrated that we have met all standards set up by the AASM.
Some of these standards are:
- employing skilled and qualified staff
- creating a clean and comfortable environment
- developing a quality assurance plan
- adhering to evidence-based practice parameters
The AASM also considers an accredited Sleep Center as a significant resource to the medical community and the public.
