Meckels Diverticulum Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time. PREP: Nothing to eat 4-12 hours prior to procedure. Empty bladder before procedure. No radiographic barium studies 48 hours prior. PURPOSE: Localization of a Meckel’s diverticulum. WHAT TO EXPECT: You will be asked to lie on a scanning table for approximately 1 hour. The technologist will inject you with a radioactive isotope. A camera will be positioned over your abdomen for the scan. You will need to lie completely still during the scan. TIME FRAME: 1 hour. POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: Minimal to no side effects from the radioactive isotope. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, INFORM THE TECHNOLOGIST BEFORE THE EXAM |
