Gallium Whole Body Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time. PREP: Bowel prep w/ oral laxatives night before imaging unless patient too ill or unable to eat solid food. Maintain a liquid diet until completion of exam. PURPOSE: Evaluation of fever of unknown origin, chronic inflammations, sarcoidosis, tumors and/or neoplasms of Hodgkin’s disease. WHAT TO EXPECT: You will be injected with a radioactive isotope by the technologist. Imaging will be needed 4, 24, 48 and possibly 72 hours after injection. TIME FRAME: The 4, 48 and 72 hour images will take 45 minutes. The 24 hour images can take up to 2 hours. POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: Minimal to no side effects from the radioactive isotope.
