Extremity (non-vascular)

Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

PREP: None

PURPOSE: An Extremity Ultrasound is performed for a palpable lump or mass, abscess, or redness and swelling of an extremity.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Patient will be scanned lying down on a cart. A gel (lotion) will be applied to the area being scanned. A series of images will be obtained.

TIME FRAME: 20 – 30 minutes

IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, INFORM THE TECHNOLOGIST BEFORE THE EXAM.
